Today's topic is hats! Even though I rarely wear hats, I like making them as gifts. I'm only going to mention knitted ones here, although I've done a couple crochet ones recently as well.
There are a couple hats I made recently but don't have pictures of yet...so I guess those will come in a later post!
Sorry for the terrible selfies in this post! These are all a bit old & taken in terrible lighting, my newer ones are better (but the last one is only a few months old, so take that as you will 😉).
First up is the Magnolia by Maria Socha. I made this for a family friend, my mom's classmate. It's embarrassing but it obviously turned out way too short - I'm going to have to ask her to give it back to me at some point for a fix! It was fun, though, because I made this one while I was living in Japan for the summer and I bought the yarn at a huge craft department store in Tokyo (Yuzawaya). Also, the first time I learned you could block hats on a dinner plate!
Next, the Norwegian Star Earflap Hat by Tiennie! I love this, my first real colorwork project and the color combo is so great! I ended up giving this to my fiance's younger brother as a holiday gift. Too bad it's acrylic; I might have to make another one one of these days.
Calzetta by Justyna Lorkowska. This is a super simple bulky hat pattern - I chose it because I didn't know how the variegated yarn I had would work up. I was making it over the holidays and my SIL-to-be liked the colors, so I gave it to her!
Now, the base for this one is the Be Loving, Remixed! by Melissa Simpson. That's a plain old hat pattern, but I added staghorn cables. Wish I'd gotten a better picture, I don't remember whether I blocked this or not. It went to my future FIL!
The Summer Cotton Lace Hat by Rhea Allais - this was a chemo cap for my aunt. I don't know if she got to wear it much in the Delhi summer heat, but I know she appreciated it! I sent a beaded crochet hat too.
Last but not least - the Boyfriend Hat by Stephanie Nicole Bennet. I made this as a 'bribe' for my fiance's summer roommate, because we stole his bedroom for the last week of their research internship (in Maui!). Turns out he ended up leaving early anyway, but I hope he liked the hat at least.
